The Sales Pitch

To quote an often-used colloquial expression: “You only get one kick at the can”.  The first impression is the lasting impression – why jeopardize your one golden opportunity.

One hires professional trades-people and service sector businesses for an infinite variety of work. Speech writers, wordsmiths, ghostwriters, speech etiquette coaches, call us what you will, we are no different; we are craftspeople gifted in the art of words.

Fear!  Other than death, public speaking is our next greatest fear, to say nothing of the work and time required to elegantly construct our most sincere feelings in an articulate manner.

Money!  A wedding or funeral is an expensive proposition; it just plain makes sense to invest in a speech that can have profound implications and generate a profound sense of poignancy and pride.

Stress!  Lighten the burden of responsibility through delegation; give yourself one less burden to worry about during two of the most stressful events in your life.

Putting your best foot forward.  A business executive speech at a convention may likewise have profound implications for one’s employer or company, possibly to the tune of millions of dollars…or, lack thereof.  Make your presentation memorable for the right reasons.

Apology, Forgiveness, Estrangement, Reconciliation, Redemption.  Take the high road – you will be glad you did.  When we do take the admirable path of the high road, the words do not often come out the way we intended.  Indeed, they often make matters worse.  That is why the editing process of writing is so influential; it establishes what your heart and mind wish to say with unfaltering precision.  This scenario may be one of unprecedented reward.

The Feeling.  Unless you have been there, one cannot appreciate the power, admiration, and pride one feels when delivering a speech or letter that has a profound impact on the listener or reader; it is genuinely intoxicating.  It is also a rare opportunity to move an audience or individual with wonderfully positive consequences.

The Digital Voice Recording and Speech Etiquette.  The “words” are only part of the equation; the delivery is equally, if not occasionally, even more significant, and, “timing”, as every comedian knows, is everything.  Timing, posture, body language, pausing, tonal phrasing, and the cadence of your speech can generate remarkable power, comedy, and that ever elusive  element…charisma.

The Personal Ad and Creative Resume.  Break the rules; stand out from the crowd; demonstrate a willingness to take risks; show imagination.  The prize awaits for those willing to distinguish themselves from the rest of the herd.

Personalized Service.  You are not a template.  Whenever possible, I strive to meet with the client in person; this is the best possible method of tailoring the speech or letter to mirror the individual.  Do not be fooled by services offering templates as the basis for your speech or letter.  You are an individual, an individual as diverse and varied as the stars.  Generally speaking, you get what you pay for.

The unquantifiable element.  I love what I do.  I have an irreverent imagination, but I can also be urbane, genuine, and graceful, with an honesty that inspires trust and confidence.  I polish and polish and polish…that is what good writers do.  We practice and practice like any well-disciplined athlete.

My enthusiasm for making you look and sound great is a reward unto itself.  It really is a matter of professional pride and reputation.  My writing shows a versatility of style, humour, elegance, inspiration, and, perhaps most importantly, a natural sincerity and honesty.
